Frequently asked questions

Are 1D barcodes scannable from a phone?

Yes — most modern phone cameras and the QR-scanner apps recognise UPC, EAN and Code 128 as well as QR.

Do I need a GS1 prefix for EAN?

If you sell at retail, yes — register with GS1 in your country. qrlia generates the symbol; the prefix licensing is on you.

Which symbologies are supported?

UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, EAN-8, Code 128 (A/B/C), Code 39, ITF-14, GS1-128 (UCC/EAN-128). DataMatrix and PDF-417 on the roadmap.

Can I add a human-readable line below?

Yes — the encoded value is rendered as text by default. Toggle off if you want a clean barcode.

When is this available?

Barcode generation is rolling out to qrlia Pro. Free users see a preview; full barcode export ships next sprint — request access on /apply.
