For CPG + packaging operators

Print the QR today.
Comply with ESPR in 2027.
Same physical packaging.

The EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) requires a Digital Product Passport on most consumer goods by 2027. qrlia's DPP-type QR encodes a redirect you control — flip the destination as the regulation phases in, without reprinting your packaging.

ESPR-ready payload

GTIN (8/12/13/14 digits), batch + serial, manufacturer, materials with %s, recyclability, end-of-life, repair contact, warranty, CE compliance, hazards. Full JSON-LD on the hosted landing page for machine readers.

Print once, update forever

The QR encodes a redirect URL — change the destination as ESPR phases in or your product data evolves. The packaging you ship in 2026 keeps working through 2030 + every regulatory iteration.

EU residency, source-available

Scan data + landing pages live on Hetzner DE/NL. Source-available code makes the procurement question "where does it run, who touches the data" auditable in one read. No US-cloud cross-border concerns.

Designed for SKU volume

Brand owners with 50+ SKUs need bulk operations, not a click-each UI. qrlia ships the bulk paths up front.

Bulk DPP-QR creation

CSV with one row per SKU (GTIN, batch, materials, EOL, etc) → qrlia mints all the QRs in one upload. Up to 200 per call on Pro; up to 1,000 on Team / White-label. Re-upload to update an existing batch.

REST API + OpenAPI 3.1

For brand owners with PIM / ERP integration: full REST API for CRUD on every QR. OpenAPI 3.1 spec at /api/docs; authenticated via Bearer token. Webhook fan-out on qr.created / qr.updated events.

MCP gateway for AI workflows

Model Context Protocol server lets Claude / Cursor mint QRs from natural language: "Generate DPP QRs for the new product line, here's the spreadsheet." Useful for brands running ESPR-readiness sprints with limited engineering time.

White-label for print partners

Print-on-demand companies that bundle qrlia under their brand: €99/mo white-label tier. Your customers see your domain on their products' QRs; you keep the relationship + the recurring revenue.

White-label details

Compliance timeline

  1. 2024

    ESPR enters into force

Framework regulation passes. Product-specific delegated acts begin defining DPP requirements category by category.

  2. 2026 — Q1-Q4

    First-wave delegated acts

Batteries, textiles, iron + steel, aluminum, electronics + ICT products receive their DPP technical specs. ~18 months for brand owners to comply.

  3. 2027

    First-wave compliance deadline

Products in first-wave categories sold into the EU must carry a DPP-accessible code. Penalties for non-compliance start applying.

  4. 2028 – 2030

    Subsequent waves

Chemicals, paints, lubricants, plastics, furniture, tyres, detergents. Most consumer goods sold into the EU covered by end-of-decade.

Frequently asked

We're a packaging printer, not a brand owner. Does this make sense for us?

Yes — and the white-label tier might be the right fit. You bundle qrlia into your print product so every customer who orders packaging from you also gets DPP-ready QRs on their products under YOUR brand. They never deal with a separate QR vendor. See /white-label for the commercial model.

Which categories does ESPR cover first?

First wave (2027): batteries, textiles, iron, steel, aluminum, electronics, ICT products. Following waves: chemicals, paints, lubricants, plastics, furniture, tyres, detergents. Most consumer goods sold into the EU are covered by 2030. Food + beverage are excluded from core DPP but adjacent regulations (packaging waste) are tightening.

Does qrlia produce the GS1 Digital Link URL format?

We support both. The qrlia DPP QR encodes a redirect URL you control (\`qrlia.com/r/<slug>\` by default, or your custom domain). The hosted landing page exposes both human-readable content and a JSON-LD payload structured per schema.org Product + GS1 vocabulary (\`gs1:gtin\`, \`gs1:hasBatch\`, etc). Machine readers see the structured data; humans see the page.

Can we ship the QR before the destination page is finalised?

Yes — that's the whole reason for using a dynamic QR. Print the QR pointing at a placeholder \`https://your-brand.com/coming-soon\` page; flip the destination to the real DPP page once it's ready. The printed packaging keeps working.

What about NFC?

QR + NFC combo tags are on the roadmap. We're piloting with print-on-demand partners that bundle a printed QR + NFC chip on the same physical tag, both pointing at the same redirect endpoint. Subscribe to the cpg list below for the launch announcement.

How does the data stay GDPR-compliant?

All scan + landing-page data lives on Hetzner DE/NL infrastructure. We don't share scan data with third parties, don't run third-party trackers, and the JSON-LD payload contains only the product data the brand owner publishes. Consumer scans are aggregated to country/device level — no fingerprinting.

ESPR + DPP rollout — quarterly digest for brand owners

Compliance heads-ups, technical implementation patterns, NFC pilot announcements. CPG / packaging segment only — no general SMB email noise.

Unsubscribe in one click. We never share your email. Sent via Castle Group's in-cluster relay — no third-party trackers.

Ship a DPP-ready SKU this week.

Pro is €12/mo, ships the DPP type + custom domain + bulk creation. For high-volume brand owners with 1k+ SKUs, talk to sales for the white-label or self-hosted tier.
